What is this thing called play ?
To adults play is something they indulge in occassionally (if at all) when they have nothing "more important" to be doing.
To CHILDREN, after nurturing - food, love and security - play is the most important thing in their life.
The play of children is often both under-valued and de-valued in our society - largely because we don't really understand what it's all about.
We have lost the ability to see it for the life-giving inner force it really is - unconsciously pushing to the surface the child's need to touch and manipulate, to explore and experiment, and so to discover. |
